Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Where do you provide maintenance services in?

We are located in London, ON and will travel in the general area around London.  Contact us to inquire if your home is in our service area.

  • When should I open my pool in spring?

The best time to open your pool is once you are sure that there is no longer a threat of freezing temperatures in your area.

    • If you’ve ever opened your pool to a sea of green, much of that algae growth would have happened in the warmer temperatures just before opening. Open your pool early and it’ll be easier to keep the water clear and clean.
    • If you have a pool heater, you’ll be ready to jump in on those warmer days in the spring.
    • Early opening gives you more time to do your regular pool maintenance, discover any unexpected problems and solve them before they take away from your swimming time.

  • Do I need to close my pool for winter?

Definitely close your pool before the temperatures fall under -1°C at night

As long as the pump is running, the water is moving and shouldn't freeze. But if you lose electricity during a storm and it gets down below freezing, the water will freeze in the pump, plumbing and filter and will likely cause damage.

There may also be some plumbing lines (like for a slide, for example) that may not have water moving through them.

Once you’ve closed the pool, you don’t have to worry about the pump and filter system freezing!

Important for Fiberglass pool owners -- always keep an eye on the water table in the ground around your pool by opening up the sump pit pipe cap. You want to ensure the water level is at least 3-4' beneath the surface or below the frost line otherwise you run the risk of heaving your pool when frost hits. Once frozen, all should be good but with our volatile Canadian winters, you must keep an eye on this to avoid catastrophic damages.

  • How do I winterize my pool?

We always recommend having your pool closed professionally. It's one of the most important parts of owning a pool. Winterizing the pool includes draining the water out of the system (but not out of the pool itself) and treating the water with special chemicals to keep the water under control over winter months. Careful attention needs to be made to several areas of this process otherwise you will certainly have costly problems when Spring opening comes.

  • How often do I have to clean my pool?

It is recommended to have your pool cleaned at least once a week to keep it clean and uncontaminated.

Under normal circumstances, check your water chemistry monthly if you're using a salt water system. Adjust salinity, calcium hardness and alkalinity accordingly. With chlorine systems, you should add a tablet of chlorine every 3-7 days, depending on the results of your water tests. Test weekly. Tablets are often the best option, as they are easier to handle and measure.

Make sure to keep leaves and other debris out of the pool.

  • How long does it take to fill up a pool? How much water does it use?

You can fill your pool with a water truck. Most pools average 2-3 trucks and it's full within an hour or so on average.

Spa Maintenance

Keeping your spa hot tub in top condition requires routine care, including weekly chemical balancing, routine cleaning, and a full water change every three months.

Regular maintenance ensures your spa remains safe, hygienic, and ready to use at all times. It’s also important to keep leaves, bugs, and other debris out of the water to protect your filters and prevent buildup that can lead to costly repairs. Proper upkeep not only extends the life of your equipment but also enhances your overall soaking experience.

At Infinity Backyards, we offer professional hot tub maintenance services designed to take the hassle out of spa ownership.

Whether you’re looking for weekly service or seasonal water changes, our experienced team handles it all—so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your spa without the stress. Let us help you keep your hot tub sparkling clean and running smoothly all year round.

  • How long does it take to fill up a spa? How much water does it use?

On average it can take 800 - 1200 liters of water, which can take anywhere from 1-2+ hours to fill depending on how large the hot tub is.

  • Do I need to close my spa in winter?

If you are spending the winter around or at your home, then there is no need to winterize your hot tub—especially if you plan on using it regularly. Just make sure you are maintaining your hot tub to meet normal specifications and keeping any pipes properly insulated and you'll be good to go.

  • What is required for a spa installation?

First you need a level, stable surface that is wider then your hot tub. This can be a concrete pad, patio stones, etc. Just make sure the base is at least 4" thick and something that stays stable during our wonderful Canadian frost heaving/thawing seasons.

Next, you will need to make sure you can meet the electrical requirements needed. If you do not already have a hot tub hook up where you want to put it, an electrician will be required to connect one for you.

We are happy to refer you to our partner MS Electric to take care of any electrical requirements.

  • How much does a hot tub weigh?

On average most spas are between 500 - 1000 pounds (without water).
